2.      The State Government of Madhya Pradesh has put an indefinite ban on the sand excavation in the Narmada River.The government has also set up a committee to suggest the scientific ways of mining the rivers.
3.      The South Asian Junior Table Tennis championship was held in Mount Lavinia, near Colombia in Sri Lanka.The paddlers from India have won all the 10 Gold Medals on offer in this tournament. Apart from 10 gold medals, the Indian participants have also won 14 medals, thus taking the medal tally to 14.
4.      Union minister Harsh Vardhan today took over the charge of the environment ministry that fell vacant after the death of Anil Madhav Dave. After taking charge, Harsh Vardhan planted a sapling on the premises of the ministry in memory of Dave.

13.  The second prototype of the Light Utility Helicopter, LUH PT2, has successfully completed its first flight by flying smoothly for 22 minutes in Bengaluru.The second prototype is the improved version of the PT1, which undertook its first flight on September 6, 2016 and later in the Aero India 2017 show in February.
14.  British actor Roger Moore, who played the much famed secret agent James Bond, has passed away at the age of 89.Roger Moore has acted as James Bond in seven films for 12 years between 1973 and 1985. His famous films include Live and Let Die and A View to a Kill. Moore was also known for playing Simon Templar in TV series The Saint between 1962 and 1969.
15.  Airlander 10, the world’s largest aircraft has successfully completed a test flight by flying for a total of 180 minutes in Cardington, UK.During the test flight, the aircraft’s’ handling and improved landing technology were tested thus bringing it a step closer to commercial use.
16.  Cabinet approves MoU between Spain and India on cooperation in the field of Organ Transplant Services.The MoU would facilitate bilateral cooperation in the field of organ and tissue procurement and transplantation and better understanding between the two countries
17.  The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between Germany and India regarding cooperation in the sector of alternative medicine.The signing of the JDl will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of traditional/alternative medicine.
18.  PV Sindhu became one of the members of the BWF Athletes’ Commission.The 21-year-old Indian topped the ballot with 129 votes as she led a trio of women onto the BWF Athletes’ Commission.
19.  Egypt has banned 21 websites, including the main website of Qatar-based Al Jazeera television and prominent local independent news site Mada Masr, accusing them of supporting terrorism and spreading false news.
20.  Facing flak from the opposition over vacancies in the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), the Centre has appointed five members to the panel.Union minority affairs ministry, social activist from Uttar Pradesh Gayarul Hasan will be the chairperson of the commission.
21.  United States senate has confirmed Amul Thapar as a judge to the Cincinnati-based Sixth Circuit Court of AppealsThapar has become President Trump’s second judicial nominee to get confirmed after Senate’s approval.
22.  The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has appointed Anurag Tripathy as the new secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He will hold the post for a period of five years.
23.  The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), which is the nodal body for Start-up India, has amended the definition of a start-upAccording to the new definition, an entity will be considered as a Start-Up if its turn over is less than Rs 25 crore and has not completed seven years from the date of its incorporation/registration.
24.  Google’s vice-president for South East Asia and India, Rajan Anandan has been appointed as the new chairman of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
25.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated India’s longest river bridge – the Dhola-Sadia Bridge in Assam.He has also renamed the bridge as Bhupen Hazarika Bridge. The construction of the bridge began in 2011. The cost of the project is about Rs 2056 crores.
