Are “B.Tech (CS)” guys eligible to apply for IFS exam?
Why has UPSC not included Computer Science as a subject in their list of subjects in Civil Services, meanwhile other engineering streams like civil, mechanical, electrical have been there for a long time. Is there any such specific reason for it? Please do respond sir!!!!!

B.Tech guys are not applicable for IFS.
As far As Civil Services is considered, you are eligible but you can’t take CS as a subject.
Only core branches have been there from long time.

Actually Civil Services examination was conceived in the era of British Raj. So all the core subjects were included. Also some committees were set up from time to time and some new subjects were added later but E-governance was not dominant during their era and IT courses were at their nascent stages.

Hopefully as E-governance and IT in government services increases.Civil services examination is bound to make changes with the addition of Computer science or Information technology into the syllabus.

Thanks for the quick response sir.
Further, I would like to know if there is any such procedure, formal or legal through which we can request them to include our branch in their list.
