UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2020, Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Central Police Forces (CPF) (Assistant Commandants) Examination Pattern details are given below.


UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2020, for Assistant Commandant (AC)

UPSC has issued the recruitment notification for Assistant Commandants under Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). This year there are 209 vacancies which will witness a neck to neck competition among aspirants.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2019

The CAPF Exam is conducted by UPSC in the 3 following stages –
Stage 1 Written Exam
Stage 2 Physical Endurance and Medical Test
Stage 3 Interview/Personality Test

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern for Written Test

The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission will be held on 20th December 2020 and will comprise two papers.
Paper I Paper I will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.00 Noon
Paper II Paper II will be held from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2020: Paper – I

Subjects –  General Ability and Intelligence Marks – 250
The questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) Type in which the questions will be set in English as well as Hindi. 

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2020: Paper – II

Subjects – General Studies, Essay and Comprehension Marks – 200
In this paper candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/ language skills will be English only. 

Note:  Candidates should ensure that in Paper II they write the answers only in the medium allowed by the Commission for the different Components as mentioned above. No credit will be given for answers written in a medium other than the one allowed in the Paper. 

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2020: Evaluation of Papers

There will be minimum qualifying marks separately in each Paper as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion. Paper-I will be evaluated first and evaluation of Paper-II will be done only of those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I.

UPSC CAPF Exam Patten:  Physical Test

Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination according to UPSC CAPF exam pattern will be summoned for Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet the 8 prescribed Physical Standards, will be put through the Physical Efficiency Test.

Standard Criteria for UPSC CAPF Physical Test

100 Meters Race
  • Males: 16 seconds
  • Females: 18 seconds
800 Meters Race
  • Males: 3 Minutes 45 seconds
  • Females: 4 Minutes 45 seconds
Long Jump
  • Males:  3.5 meters in 3 chances
  • Females: 3.0 meters in 3 chances
Shot Put
  • Males: 4.5 meters
  • Females: –

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern: Interview/ Personality Test

Marks 150
Conducting Body UPSC
Who will be called ? Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission. 
DAF Candidates who are short-listed for Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for Interview/Personality Test provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.
Call Letters  Will be issued after the result of physical test is announced.

UPSC CAPF Exam Final Merit List

 The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

UPSC CAPF 2020 Marking Scheme

Paper 1 of UPSC CAPF is of multiple choice questions, carrying 125 questions, the total marks of which is 250. Negative marking is applicable in paper 1 only. The detailed marking scheme has been explained below in bulleted form:

  • For each wrong answer, 1/3rd marks will be deducted.
  • If there are two answers for a single question, it will be considered as wrong answer and 1/3 will be deducted even if any one of the answers is correct.
  • If no question is answered, no deduction is made.
  • In paper 2, which is a descriptive paper, there are 6 questions, the total marks of which is 200. No negative marking is applicable.
  • The third round, which is the interview round, carries 150 marks.
