UPPSC Exam Pattern 2020: Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the UPPSC PCS/RFO/ACF/ Notification 2020 at uppsc.up.nic.in for the recruitment of 200 vacancies in the state civil services. UPPSC PCS Selection Process

The UPPSC PCS recruitment process includes the three phases i.e.

(a) Preliminary Exam

(b) Main Exam

(c) Personal Interview.

UPPSC PCS Exam Pattern 2020

1. UPPSC Preliminary Exam Pattern

  • The nature of the UPPSC prelims exam is Objective Type.
  • The UPPSC PCS Prelims exam consists of two papers i.e. (a) General Studies-I (b) General Studies-II

  • General Studies-II Paper is qualifying in nature. There are 33 % marks are required to qualify for the exam.
  • General Studies-I Paper is considered for screening mains stage candidates. Its marks are required to get a hall ticket of mains exam, from there onwards it does not play any role in determining the final merit of the candidate.

The PCS exam pattern for UPPSC Prelims 2020 is given in the table below:

  • Both Papers will be of 200 marks each.
  • However, only Paper 1 will be considered for merit ranking
  • Paper 2 is a qualifying paper on the lines of IAS Prelims (33% qualifying criteria)

Negative Marking
  • As per the new UPPSC exam pattern, there will be 0.33% negative marking for every incorrect answer.
  • For e.g., if the maximum marks allotted for a question is 2, then answering it incorrectly would incur a penalty of 0.66 marks
  • Filling multiple circles on the OMR sheet for the same question would be treated as an incorrect answer
  • There is no negative marking for leaving a question blank

2. UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern

  • The nature of the UPPSC Main exam is Subjective Type.
  • The UPPSC Main exam consists of Eight (Six+ Two) papers.

  • All General Studies papers and Optional subject papers will be of 200 marks each
  • Total – 1500 marks

3. UPPSC Interview Exam Pattern

  • The Interview will consist of 100 Marks.

After completion of all phases, the final merit list will be released by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
