SSC Stenographer Job Profile: 

As a Stenographer, your work profile will depend upon where you are posted.

Stenographer Grade C are posted in Ministries/Departments of Central Government, located mostly in Delhi.

Stenographer Grade D are grouped as under:

  • Group ‘X’ –  For Departments of Central Government located mostly in Delhi.
  • Group ‘Y’ – For Departments of Central Government including all over the country.

The duties and responsibilities you will be responsible for will be:

  • Speech Writing
  • Press Conference Briefings
  • Assisting the Minister or Officer
  • Helping in Public Relations

SSC Stenographer Work Timings:

As a Stenographer, you will have a proper work schedule. Daily you will be going in the morning and coming back to your home in the evening, no extra work hours and working in shifts.

SSC Stenographer salary and allowances

The salary of Stenographer varies as per the grade you are in

SSC Stenographer career path:

  • As a Stenographer, you will be getting immense opportunities for promotion and career growth.
  • The promotion will be time bound and if you clear the departmental examinations on time, there are even chances of quick promotion to higher cadres.
  • If you pass all the departmental exams timely, you can go reasonably higher in the grade as well.

According to current pay scales, You would get a salary of around 23,000/- pm initially( can be varied a little as per place of posting).

    Sir isn’t the skill test based on short hand/stenography? It was mentioned in the exam notification. Are you sure that they will give word, excel and power point?

      Yes what you are saying is correct.Actually there are two different exams that we are talking about. One is SSC Stenographer, and one is ESIC .

        2) i’m from karnataka. were will be mine.
        3) within how many days the skill test will be conducted and from were i can dowload my hallticket for skill test.
        4) after skill test how many days approx it ll take to declare the result.
        5) any medical test (health checkup) will be also avaliable.
        6) what all the doc. i have to carry for going skill test. and after skill test wht all the doc. i need to collect for the submission for the job.

          Carry documents like your admit card, mark sheets and certificates from 10th to graduation, Id proof certificate like voter card or PAN card, Category certificate (if any), Work experience Certificate (if any)

            First they will dictate one passage. V ve to note down that. (If v noted down that passage in general English then v r not eligible for the exam.)
            Then in which code language v ve to note down that passage.

            In skill test while typing the steno machine is not like computer keypad. Few letters r missing in that then how can v type.
            Plz help me. In solving this …
            I’m getting confusion a lot in this.. Full disturb. I’m plz

            You can note down in that way also, but the speed of dictation will be too fast to write complete sentences.

    I appeared in the steno 2016, the result of which came on 1.12.16. I have qualified the exam so m tensed what to do. I don’t know anything about stenography.😕
