Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must have passed minimum 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University.
  • Certificate obtained through open school / university, must be recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC) IGNOU.
  • Candidates, who entitled for typing test / skill test, are required to produce the original documents, cast certificate(if applicable).
  • Candidates who failed to produce the original documents he/she will be rejected.
  • Candidates who wish to be considered under the reserved category or seeking age relaxation, he/she will have to submit required certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format at the time of Skill Test. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex- Servicemen status will not be entertained and their applications will be considered under General category.
  • Candidates are warned that they may be permanently disqualified from the examinations conducted by the SSC, in case they found claiming SC/ST/OBC/Ex- Servicemen/ PH status falsely.

Age Limit

Required age limit for the SSC CHSL exam is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2016, date of birth proof may be provided through birth certificate or class 10th passing certificate.

Candidate must be either:-

a) citizen of India, or

b) subject of Nepal, or

c) subject of Bhutan, or

d) Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settle down in India, or

e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from, Burma, Sri Lanka ,Pakistan, East African Countries such as Kenya, Zaire ,Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settle down in India.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Exam 2016?

Candidates can submit applications for the SSC CHSL exam through two modes, online mode or offline mode. Procedure to fill the application form through online or offline modes given below:

1) Online Mode

  • Firstly, visit to official website of SSC ( or candidates can also click on the direct link provided above.
  • Now, click on application form link that will be provided on the home page of the Commission’s website.
  • Then, Fill required information like – Name, Date of birth, Qualification, Address etc.
  • After filling required details now upload scanned photograph and signature.

2) Offline Mode

  • Firstly, download and take a printout of application form which contain in Annexure 1 of the advertisement and fill it up.
  • Payment has to be made through central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS).
  • Now, Paste the CRFS on the application form at space allotted for the CRFS.
  • After pasting CRFS, get the “CRF Stamp” cancelled from the same post office where you have purchased it, cancellation of “CRFS” is necessary, otherwise your application form will be rejected.
  • Now, send your application form to address mentioned in the official notification of SSC CHSL exam 2016.

SSC CHSL Application Fee 2016

Candidates are required to make payment of Rs. 100 as application fee. The fee will not be applicable for female, SC, ST, PH, Ex-Servicemen categories candidates. Candidates can either pay application fee through online mode or offline mode:

  • For online payment candidates can make the payment through challan which can be submitted at any branch of SBI or through Net Banking, credit/debit cards.
  • For offline payment mode candidates can make the payment through “Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)” Candidates need to paste CRFS on their CHSL exam application form.
