Seating Arrangement Practice Questions – 1st July 2020

Seating Arrangement forms a major chunk of questions from Reasoning Ability section. You will always find questions based on the seating arrangement in Preliminary as well as in Main Examinations of various banking exams such as SBI PO, IBPS PO, SBi Clerk, IBPS Clerk, RRB PO, RRB Clerk etc. Today, we are going to provide you with some important tips for the seating arrangement questions. As you all are well aware, at least 2 sets are asked from seating arrangement or puzzle-based questions in most of the banking exams. This topic is really important since the question is asked normally in the set of 5 questions and once you get the correct arrangement, you can easily score 5 marks from this part.

These questions may be asked in the following forms –

  • Linear Arrangement
  • Circular Arrangement (inward, outward or both side facing)
  • Square/Rectangular Arrangement (inward, outward or both side facing)
  • Combination of the above three with puzzles.

Example Setting Arrangement:

Direction (1-5): Eight persons P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W are seated in a straight line but not necessarily in the same order. Some of them are facing South while some are facing North.
Note : Same direction means that if one person is facing North, then the other also faces North and vice-versa. Opposite direction means that if one person is facing North, then the other faces South and vice-versa.

  • T faces south. Only three persons sit to the left of T. Only two persons sit
    between T and Q.
  • U sits third to the right of W. W is niether an immediate neighbour of T nor Q.
  • W does not sit at any of the extreme ends of the line.
  • Both the immediate neighbours of S face North. S is not an immediate
neighbour of W. Only one person sit between S and P.
  • P faces same direction as W. Immediate neighbours of Q face opposite
directions (i.e., if one neighbour faces North, then the other South and vice-versa.
  • Persons sitting at extreme ends face opposite directions. R faces a direction
    opposite to S.
