Pattern for SBI Specialist Assistant Manager (System).

The pattern for SBI Specialist Assistant Manager (System) is as follows:

Paper I: Qualifying in nature

S. No. Sections Maximum Marks Time
1 Test of Reasoning 50
2 English Language 35  90 mins
3 Quantitative Aptitude 35
Total 120

Paper II: Merit paper

S. No. Sections Maximum Marks Time
1 Professional Knowledge 100 (50 questions, 2marks each)  45 mins
Total 100

As you can notice the pattern of SBI SO is quite different from any other banking exam. Following points require special attention:Preparation Tips for SBI SO Systems Officer

  1. Except for Professional Knowledge section, the other 3 sections will be only qualifying in nature and their marks will not be utilized for arriving at the Merit List. What this means is you are only required to clear the sectional cutoff of Reasoning, English and Quantitative Aptitude (Part I). So YOU SHOULD FOCUS ONLY ON SCORING MAXIMUM MARKS IN PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE (Part II )section.
  2. There are different time duration for Professional and other sections. This means you cannot jump between other and professional section according to your will.  You will have to finish the Part I and only after 90 minutes are complete you will be able to attempt Part II.(Professional Knowledge)
  3. Keep your cool in the first 90 minutes. Solve 15-20 questions every section of Part I  and aim for 90-100% accuracy. Remember not to attempt too many questions and try to prove yourself a ‘know it all’. It will only make you lethargic. So keep your mind fresh for the Professional section.
  4. Start the Professional section with full vigor. Since there are only low/no calculations involved go for reading the entire set of questions and answering the ones about which you are 100% certain of.
  5. After you are done answering the above kind of questions, check your attempts. If you have managed to attempt 50-60% questions, take a sigh of relief and go for solving another 20% questions. Aim for 70-80% accuracy.
  6. Voila !! you have cleared SBI SO Systems (SBI SO IT) paper 2016. 🙂
  7. For all those who cannot help but prepare for Part I, read on.
  8. You do not need to master these sections.
  9. Solve previous year PO papers to get an idea about the kind of questions asked in English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.
  10. No matter whether you are the most fluent English Speaker, or the best reasoning thinker or THE Quant Master, DO NOT WASTE TIME SOLVING ALL QUESTIONS IN ANY OF THE 3 SECTIONS. Attempt only 15-20 questions per section with 90-100% accuracy.
  11. Focus on the topics given below for solving and attempting.
