Example 1:  √5

1. √5 we can also write √4+1. Therefore, 4= x and 1 =y
2. According to the formula: x is always a perfect square, Like here 4’s perfect square is 2.
3. Then, √4 + (1/2√4) =2 + (1/2*2) = 2+ (1/4) = 2 + 0.25 = 2.25.
4. Hence the answer is 2.25.

Example 2: √14

1. √5 we can also write √16-2. Therefore, 16= x and 2 =y
2. According to the formula: x is always a perfect square, Like here 16’s perfect square is 4.
3. Then, √16 – (2/2√16) =4 – (2/2*4) = 4- (1/4) = 4 – 0.25 = 3.75.
4. Hence the answer is 3.75.
