IBPS PO Exam Analysis

The Prelim Exam consisted of 3 sections which were spread over English Language, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude.  The duration of the exam was one hour which carried 100 marks.

  • LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY – MODERATE
  • DOABLE QUESTIONS- ALL
  • TIME LAG – YES (Candidates who manage their time well will have an overall advantage. The time saved in Quantitative Aptitude section can be used for solving RC passage in the English section)
  • SURPRISES – The English section was slightly more challenging than from the exam held on Oct 22nd and Oct 16th.

    Quantitative Aptitude

    Level : Easy

    Type of Questions 

    • Quadratic Equations – 5
    • Series – 5
    • DI – 10
    • Approximation – 5
    • Numeric Ability (Various Topics) – 10

    The Numeric ability was of moderate level. The rest of the questions were easy this year.

    English Language 

    Level : Difficult

    Type of Questions 

    • Reading Comprehension – 8
    • Cloze Passage – 7
    • Para Jumbles – 5
    • Errors – 10

    Overall , the English section was complex this year. The RC passages were challenging testing the grip of the student on vocabulary and basic understanding of the English language.

    Reasoning Ability

    Level – Moderate

    Type of Questions 

    • Inequalities – 5
    • Syllogism – 5
    • Sitting Arrangement – 10
    • Puzzles – 10
    • Miscellaneous Topics – 5

    Reasoning Ability was moderate this year. No coding decoding questions were asked. Puzzles were easy to attempt.

    1. Hi akriti mam, iam an aspirant from uttarakhand, I hv done 149 in bom clerk with 95 percent accuracy, but posts for general are very less, only 6. What could b d expected cut off for general in uttarakhand, may I hv any chance, please suggest

    3. The cutoff for English should be between 6-8

      I insist you prepare for Mains and not worry about the cutoff. Worrying will only waste your time.

    7. my grammar is weak so i do not attempt the Error section. i attempt 14 question from RC , Zumble and CT. and i said that Except Eng section my accuray is over 90%. ok.. 🙂

    8. See for the Mains exam you should prepare anyways. This preparation will be of use to you. As far as the prelims is concerned, you do have decent chances.

    9. Your overall performance is surely good Deepankar. If you score well in English, you’re surely in. Otherwise it’l be a close call. The english section was complex this year.We can just hope that the cutoff is less.

    15. Nitin I insist you start your preparation for Mains. A lot of students waste their precious time waiting for the result. That is not recommended.

      As far as your attempt goes, i feel you should be in but it all depends on the final cutoff decided by IBPS. Either way start preparing for Mains.

    19. Quant was easy especially DI Nd number series l. Quadratic equations Nd approximations were easy, too.
      Reasoning was the easiest.
      English as usual moderate to tough in my case it was tough hi tough???? but parajumbles Nd error spotting are my power so I did it Nd it went well……

      18 QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE WITH 100% ACCURACY

      14 REASONING

      WITH 98% ACCURACY
      AND 18 ENGLISH WITH 80% ACCURACY
      What are my chances ?

    21. Please keep preparing. Nobody except for IBPS will decide the final cutoff. So don’t worry. If you keep preparing, it’ll help you.Dropping preparation just because we are all making our predictions for the cutoff is not recommended. All the best.

    22. My Attempt is 48(math 20, res 14 eng 14) except eng accuracy is over 90% . any chance I am belongs to Gen cast?

      as there is some change in the English, the sectional cutoff for english will decrease ??
