  • Medium Difficulty Level Questions : The intermediate category of questions in Reasoning section. The more you have practiced these type of questions the less time you take in solving these questions. They have an accuracy of 80%+ in questions falling under the above category. While preparing. try and solve questions from the following topics and if you are unable to solve any particular ones then refrain from answering the same in the exam. The medium difficulty level topics are:
    • Syllogisms
    • Inequalities
    • Blood Relations
    • Seating Arrangement
    • Data Sufficiency

If you are not a Reasoning Ninja, then the above two categories of questions will do the trick for you. You will clear sectionals as well as overall cutoff with ease. The two categories taken together account for 50-70% of questions in Reasoning section.

  • Time Consuming and Complex Questions :  A total of 20-30% questions will fall under this category. Only attempt these if you have the luxury of time in the paper. Getting 35 out of 40 in Reasoning section by attempting these questions is a waste of time. The same can be utilized for solving Quant or English and thereby clearing their sectional cutoffs. The accuracy of this category of questions is on the lower end.
    • Coding Decoding
    • Complex Puzzle
    • Floor Puzzle
    • Input Output Machine

  • As evident from the analysis above, atleast 5-8 questions will be asked from seating arrangement.
  • You should aim at 100% accuracy in this topic.
  • The thing about questions from this topic is if you get the pattern right, all questions can be answered with 100% accuracy.

2. Blood relations:

  • They are designed to test the comprehensive abilities of your brain.
  • They might seem long and complex but in reality are very easily to solve.
  • The key is to distinguish which type of problem is it:
    • Single person Blood relation
    • Mixed blood relation
    • Coded blood relation
  • Majority of problems will be single person blood relation.
  • They take less time and have higher (90%+) accuracy.
  • For single person blood relation break the sentence at is/was/as and resolve it from last point to is/was/as to get easy solution for the problem.
  • Use diagrammatic representation of problem to solve it.

3. Coding Decoding:

  • High Accuracy Time consuming questions.
  • A majority (50-60%) of questions in this topic are simple, meaning there code can be identified almost instantly, with the look of an eye. Go for solving these kind of questions.
  • Aim at solving only 60% questions from this topic with 90% accuracy.

4. Assumption Inference

  • In this type of questions ambiguity kicks in.
  • There is no definite right or wrong answer, since it depends on the thought process of the candidate.
  • Only answer it, if you are 100% sure or the question is really easy.
  • Spend no more than 2-3 minutes combined on this topic.

5. Data Sufficiency

  • Carefully Read the given statements. Never ever assume anything except universal facts.
  • Ask yourself whether the question could be solved with the information given in the statements. These questions are not supposed to involve long and drawn-out calculations. However if you still find yourself doing a lot of calculations, there is certainly something you’re not seeing. There is no need to solve the question yourself.
  • Now use the first statement and combine it with main statement. If you get the answer answer is first statement is sufficient to answer the question.
  • If first statement is not sufficient to find the answer, then take the second statement individually and combine with the main statement. If you can get the answer then answer is second statement alone is sufficient to answer the question.
  •  After verifying that both statements individually aren’t enough to find an answer then combine both statements with main statement and check whether you find the answer. If you manage to get the answer then option is both statements combined are sufficient to answer the question.
  • If still you can’t find the answer, then both statements are insufficient.
  • Give no more than 50 seconds per question.
  • Aim at 80% accuracy.

6. Inequality, Input Output and Odd man out

  • These topics are the perfect mix.
  • Aim for solving 80% questions.
  • Accuracy 75-80%.
  • Don’t attempt questions which are too hard. (Input Output section was way too hard in IBPS PO MAINS or RBI Grade B)
  • Refrain from wasting your time in input output if you cant understand the pattern in one go.
  • Odd man out generally doesn’t wastes much time and has higher accuracy.
