There will be two types of questions in the Reasoning part of SSC CGL namely verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

It is that part of the reasoning in which concepts are framed in words. It aims at evaluating the ability to think constructively in a logical manner rather than simply cramming the facts and words. Verbal Reasoning comprises of a variety of questions like Seating Arrangement, Relationship Concepts, Syllogisms, Input-Output, Coding-Decoding and Verbal Analogy.

It is that part of the reasoning in which concepts are framed as visual information.In non-verbal reasoning, instead of words and numbers, diagrams are used for expressing ideas.

The symbol ( : ) means “is to” and the symbol ( : : ) means “as.” Thus, the analogy, “aspirin : headache : : nap: fatigue,” should be read “aspirin is to headache as nap is to fatigue.” Stated another way, the relationship between aspirin and headache is the same as the relationship between nap and fatigue.
