1. Muri Express derails in UP, 4 dead
At least four passengers were dead and many injured as Muri Express got derailed on Monday near Sirathu in Kaushambi district of UP.

2. Militants attack BSNL outlet in JK’s Sopore; 1 killed, 2 injured
A man was killed and two others were injured when militants fired indiscriminately at a telecom company’s outlet at Sopore in north Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

3. Maoists torch 32 vehicles in Bihar, enforce shutdown
Heavily armed Maoists torched 32 vehicles, including tankers and containers, on the Grand Trunk Road in this district on the first day of their two-day Bihar and Jharkhand bandh today.

4. Government clears 21 FDI proposals worth Rs 281 crore

The inter-governmental panel, chaired by Economic Affairs Secretary, also cleared Blue Dart Express’s proposal to acquire shares in Blue Dart Aviation Ltd and hike shareholding to 74% from 49%

US mathematician John Nash, who inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, has died in a car crash with his wife

6. Andrzej Duda wins presidential election in Poland
He belongs to the Law and Justice party of former prime minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, a right-wing party that mixes traditional national values such as Catholicism with calls for a stronger state role in the economy.

7. Mumbai Indians win second IPL title
They defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs to win their second IPL crown at Eden Gardens.
