No change in stand on India’s entry into NSG: China

  • China’s support is crucial for India as new NSG membership is guided by the consensus principle.
  • China maintained that new members should sign the NPT.
  • India says it will not sign the NPT as it regards it discriminatory.

 

Sand Excavation from Narmada River banned by Madhya Pradesh Government

  • The State Government of Madhya Pradesh has put an indefinite ban on the sand excavation in the Narmada River.
  • The government has also set up a committee to suggest the scientific ways of mining the rivers.

 

India wins all 10 Gold Medals at South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships

  • The South Asian Junior Table Tennis championship was held in Mount Lavinia, near Colombia in Sri Lanka.
  • The paddlers from India have won all the 10 Gold Medals on offer in this tournament. Apart from 10 gold medals, the Indian participants have also won 14 medals, thus taking the medal tally to 14.

                                                                                                                           

Harsh Vardhan takes charge of environment ministry

  • Union minister Harsh Vardhan today took over the charge of the environment ministry that fell vacant after the death of Anil Madhav Dave.
  • After taking charge, Harsh Vardhan planted a sapling on the premises of the ministry in memory of Dave.

 

Mumbai beat Pune by one run to claim their third IPL crown

  • Eight out of 10 IPL finals have been won by the sides batting first
  • Mumbai Indians won the title for the third time
  • It was Mumbai Indians’ first victory against Rising Pune Supergiant this season
