Anna University Admission

Anna University is a technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. The main university campus is established in Guindy, Chennai. It was named after C N Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 4 September 1978. It became an affiliating university in 2001, absorbing all engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. In 2007, it was divided into six constituent universities viz Chennai (campus), Coimbatore, Madurai, Chennai,  Tiruchirappalli, and Tirunelveli. On 14 September 2011, the constituents were merged back to a single affiliating university for engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.

 

Anna University Admission Procedure

A Common Entrance Test namely Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPC EE) was used as a basis for admission to professional courses in the state until 2006. Starting in the academic year 2007-08, students were admitted to engineering colleges on the basis of their higher secondary marks. The postgraduate admission process is carried out through TNEA.

 

Anna University Admission Application Form

TNEA Application Form 2017 will be available through the online and offline mode. The candidates can download/apply the application form from the official website of the conducting authority (Anna University) or may get the form from TNEA designated centres. The candidates will get the application form in the month of May tentatively.

 

Anna University Admission Application Form Fee

  • Offline Mode: The candidates have to pay Rs. 700/- for the general and Rs. 450/- for scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/other backward classes.

 

  • Online Mode: The candidates can get the application form by paying Rs. 500/- for the general candidates and Rs. 250/- for reserved candidates.

Anna University Admission Criteria

Candidates should go through all the Anna University Admission Criteria given below:

Anna University Admission Criteria 1

  • The applicant should belong to the state of Tamil Nadu and ought to have completed their class XII from the state. Candidates who do not belong to the state of Tamil Nadu but have completed class XII from the state are also eligible to apply.

 

Anna University Admission Criteria 2

  • Wards of central government employees can apply for admissions irrespective of whether they are natives of the state provided their parents or guardians have been serving in the state of Tamil Nadu for the past five years continuously. Such candidates are required to submit a certificate in support of this, issued by the employer of his/her parent or guardian.

 

Anna University Admission Criteria 3

  • Tamil Nadu native candidates who have completed class XII from schools situated outside the state are also eligible to apply provided they submit a valid nativity certificate. The nativite certificate should be enclosed in the digital format.

 

Anna University Admission Criteria 4

  • Wards of public sector or government employees may also apply irrespective of their domicile provided their parent/guardian has been employed in the state of Tamil Nadu for the past five years continuously and they produce a certificate of evidence to this end.

 

Anna University Admission Criteria 5

  • Admissions are also open to wards of all India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers.
